New next generation facility. Why now?

Posted by |

With a real buzz around our new Reading Data Centre plans, I’m receiving calls and questions on a daily basis, both from existing customers and potential clients (as well as the occasional competitor ‘spy’!). The main query is of course, ‘What’s in it for me?’.

I’ll be addressing some of the main issues behind the need for next generation hosting facilities in due course, but for now, here’s an overview of the reasons for our huge ongoing investment.

    • Improved resilience, energy efficiency and power savings of over 40%.

We will reduce our PUE (Power Utilisation Efficiency) to a next generation ratio of 1.2.

    • Diverse network connectivity

The site is already linked to our existing MPLS Network (that’s also enjoying ongoing investment), and all the benefits that come with it.

    • Ample free car parking

Good road links to the M4 (1 mile), London Heathrow Airport (30miles), Central London (40 miles) and Gatwick Airport (65 miles).

    • Full control, 24/7 on-site monitoring and management

We will have full control of the data centre, with ‘hands and eyes’ support from our own engineers round the clock, 365 days a year.  It will also be fully monitored from our central Network Operations Centre at Harrogate HQ.

Before I sign off for now, it’s important to point out that we’re actually our own biggest customer. It’s therefore in our own interests to have the most secure, efficient and resilient hosting facilities, so customers can rest assured that they receive the same high standards we demand ourselves!
