Less is more for global construction provider

Rider Levett Bucknall, one of the world's largest construction companies has selected a range of InTechnology's managed network, data and exchange services to deliver more services for less.

Harrogate-based InTechnology now provides the firm with a portfolio of Cloud-based services including virtual server hosting for the entire EMEA element of its global data, over 8TB capacity of its managed backup service and a managed exchange delivered as a bespoke Software as a Service (SaaS).

Mark Evans, IT manager at Rider Levett Bucknall said: "The whole firm relied upon our existing BT NetEquip service - unfortunately, it was slow, out-of-date and in need of replacement. We needed to deliver more services and efficiency with less resource, money and waste.

"Even though it would require a fundamental change to our infrastructure, I was convinced that moving to a private MPLS network was the right approach. As InTechnology's resilient private network offered 64 times better bandwidth and a 50% reduction in cost in comparison with the existing BT offering, it didn't take long to convince the board that InTechnology's was the right solution."

"The business and technical account management is the best I've ever dealt with and way beyond what other companies - including IBM and Microsoft - can offer. It's not just about technology; it's about the people."

Evans elaborates that one of the firm's key criteria was an enthusiastic account management team that would buy into and support its objectives: "The business and technical account management is the best I've ever dealt with and way beyond what other companies - including IBM and Microsoft - can offer. It's not just about technology; it's about the people."

Stefan Haase of InTechnology added: "By introducing virtual server hosting, managed backup and managed exchanged services, Rider Levett Bucknall has used the Cloud to help it deliver more services efficiently and effectively to its network of over 100 offices and 2,800 staff.

"It is benefitting from the scalability and the flexibility the firm needs to meet its business and IT requirements with the enhanced security and peace of mind that our own highly resilient MPLS network can deliver."

Evans concluded: "We now view our service as a crème de la crème solution that meets our requirements and provides increased resilience and flexibility - I know exactly where my data is, I know it's safe and I can even visit it if I want to!"
