Serco enlists Redcentric for UK training centre
03 October 2012
A £200,000 Redcentric IP network and digital AV solution sourced by Serco has gone live at major UK training centre, driving improvements in learning and future proofing the facility for a range of IP applications.
The busy facility with IT managed by Serco serves in excess of 2,000 people each year with seven lecture theatres and over 50 syndicate rooms. Redcentric provisioned and installed its new IP network replacing older network technology.
The training centre's ageing analogue AV equipment was also replaced with a fully IP ready AV solution, allowing video streaming and easy relay of information. This includes replacing projectors and screens with plasma and LCD displays, easy web access during training and digital recording and playback.
Working to a stringent timescale Redcentric pre-built and tested the entire solution at its own pre-testing centre, guaranteeing no disruption to the facility during the installation and transition.
Redcentric was selected by Serco through a rigorous tender process demonstrating combined value for money and an innovative approach to the solution and timescale.
Michael Nottle, the centre's Head of IT Change and Development said: "We selected Redcentric for their value for money but also the dynamism of their solution over competitors.
"Redcentric's offsite pre-testing of the solution minimised disruption and issues during implementation. The service received was exemplary with Redcentric staff working out of normal hours to meet deadlines."
Plans are now in place to upgrade the second half of the training site following this approach's success.
Nottle continued, "Moving to an IP network creates many opportunities to enhance the training facility's service over many years to come including Unified Communications, messaging and VOIP. World class defence training requires up to date IT and by working with Redcentric we're now ahead of the curve."
Richard Archer, Sales Director, Redcentric said, "We invest heavily in people and partnerships to ensure that our infrastructure solutions are flexible to customer demands. We're delighted to see this training facility benefiting so quickly from our approach."
