InTechnology unveils new PBX Connect service

Businesses embracing the inevitable migration to IP Telephony face the obstacle of what to do with their legacy PBX systems. How do proprietary, non-IP systems fit in with a future-proofed telephony strategy? The answer is integration.

InTechnology, a specialist in data management, hosting, network and IP telephony services, has launched a SIP Trunking service called PBX Connect. This new service enables organisations with legacy PBX systems to make and receive calls via InTechnology's MPLS network. Internet, network, data and now voice services can all be delivered to InTechnology customers across a single network connection.

PBX Connect has been designed for organisations looking to make the transition to IP Telephony, but for whom a 'rip and replace' approach to their existing systems is not viable.

PBX Connect can also be deployed together with InTechnology's hosted VOIP service, Unity IP Voice. This enables the delivery of a seamless IP Telephony solution across an organisation that integrates legacy PBXs.

"The availability of PBX Connect enables companies to benefit from IP Telephony whilst utilising investments they have already made in PBX systems," explains Phil Dyson, Product Group Manager for InTechnology. "As the service is delivered across our nationwide network, this removes the need for two separate voice and data networks. This is true IP convergence and can offer our customers significant cost reductions.

"However, the benefits of IP Telephony go far beyond financial. For example, in the event of a site outage, calls can instantly be rerouted to an alternative location, protecting our customer's business. PBX Connect brings IP Telephony benefits like this to legacy PBX systems."

As experts in migrating customers to IP Telephony, InTechnology provides a fully managed, low risk migration process to IP. This includes the use of PBX Connect where it is not appropriate to replace the PBX at that particular time, and Unity IP Voice where it is.

As an IP telco and a pioneer in IP managed services, InTechnology has invested over £100m in network and voice equipment in recent years to provide unrivalled quality in both functionality and customer service. In addition to IP Telephony, InTechnology provides managed data backup, hosting, and VPN services across a UK wide MPLS network.

The company recently completed a £3 million refurbishment and upgrade to the infrastructure at its Harrogate data centre.
