University of Oxford Case Study

The University of Oxford was the first University in the English-speaking world which currently has a student population of over 20,000. A third of the university’s population comes from outside the UK from more than 140 countries and territories.

The challenge

  • The resilience of the outbound call services needed to be increased
  • Reduce the dependency on a single ISDN30 supplier
  • Provide opportunity for future addition of services

The solution

  • Pilot project was trialled for implementation of SIP trunking across the Janet network
  • Redcentric worked alongside Oxford University Computing Service (OUCS) voice experts, Cisco's assigned systems engineer and the Cisco Technical Assistance Centre
