Sovereignty

Sovereignty isn’t a box to tick on data residency. It’s the ability to stay in control, of access, resilience, visibility and where decisions about your environment are made.

TRANSFORMATION ON YOUR TERMS

Protecting your organisation’s most valuable digital assets

Sovereignty is about staying in control of the things that matter. Done well, it provides a distinct layer of protection and assurance, allowing you to operate with more agility and adopt new technology faster, while closely managing risk.

It’s much more than an IT decision; it’s an operational model that impacts across your business and supply chain. It’s not an all or nothing decision, identifying the systems and data that carry the most risk is the first step.

Sovereignty beyond the data layer

Helping navigate a shifting and complex landscape

Technical sovereignty has changed. It’s no longer just a compliance requirement, it’s a practical advantage for many organisations. Regulation and jurisdiction matter, but so do operational control and trust when deciding where sovereignty needs to sit across your business.

  • Managing competing legal jurisdictions with confidence.
  • Regaining control of your data and how its managed.
  • Reducing latency risk in critical applications.
  • Enhancing customer confidence in managing their data.
  • Better control of potential geopolitical movements.
  • Balancing security and control with the need to innovate.

Shifting from need to value

For a sovereign approach to really add value there needs to be an organisation wide, holistic approach to planning, design and implementation. Building clear lines of non-negotiables tracked to outcomes provides the right framework to build from the foundations up.

Cloud confidence

Factoring in sovereignty into your cloud strategy means more detailed consideration beyond the technical. From physical location to the full components and supply chain, finding the right fit can be complex. Getting it right is a critical factor in protecting your organisation.

AI guardrails

The potential of AI is undoubtable, but the very real risks of its application across organisation delivering critical services or using highly sensitive data is equally real. Sovereign solutions can be invaluable to put in the right protection without limiting impact.

Protection in transit

Data isn’t static, it needs to move between systems, across locations and into the hands of the people who need it. Our UK wide fibre network will ensure connectivity is a central part of your sovereign strategy.

FAQs

What is the difference between data residency and data sovereignty?

Data residency relates solely to the location of the servers where your data is stored. Data sovereignty provides the legal framework around your data. Your data may reside in the UK, but if it’s with a non-UK owned and operated company, it may be subject to foreign legislation, such as the US Cloud Act, which could allow access to your data without consent.

Are your support staff and engineers all UK-based?

We have a blended organisation structure providing different service capabilities dependent on the specific needs of our customers. Where necessary, we are able to provide fully security cleared UK colleagues to work with specific customers and their systems, with all the right protocols and guardrails in place to manage access to infrastructure, platforms and data.

What types of organisation require sovereign solutions?

Sovereignty is increasingly an issue for all organisations. Traditionally, public sector and highly regulated markets such as financial services would have sovereignty built into their IT strategy. The geopolitical landscape, heightened security threats, consumer confidence, and emerging technology including AI mean any organisation that stores and manages data should be considering how it may be of benefit to them.

What other considerations beyond technology should I consider when looking at sovereign solutions?

All technology requires human intervention, from the planning and building to deployment and ongoing management. Ensuing all those people have the right security clearance, and your technology partners have the right processes and controls in pace are essential for any sovereign approach.
