BigHand uses Redcentric’s N3 hosting and IaaS to launch digital dictation service to the NHS

BigHand and Redcentric improve patient data security and help increase the speed that patient documents and referrals are created

Digital dictation provider, BigHand, has launched a SaaS solution for clinicians and medical secretaries. The new service utilises Redcentric's N3 and cloud hosting service to provide users with a secure and encrypted way to manage dictated files without the need for an expensive internal, on-premise solution.

As one of only a handful N3 aggregators, Redcentric's service provides BigHand's customers with access to accredited, high performance and resilient networks and UK data centres that connect to N3. For additional resilience, data is also replicated across two secure locations protecting against disaster and ensuring high availability of the service.

NHS organisations can now access BigHand's SaaS 'Professional Edition' within 48 hours. Using traditional dictation hardware, smartphones or tablets, users can dictate patient referral letters, update records, which are then instantly encrypted, sent and tracked by BigHand's software. Clinicians are able to review the transcribed files to ensure that they're accurate. BigHand software speeds up the time that dictated files are turned around and reduces costs associated with tape-based or standalone dictation processes.

Using BigHand's SaaS over Redcentric's N3 hosting service means that NHS organisations no longer need to install expensive technology and servers on-site and utilise resources to manage it internally.  

BigHand currently has over 30,000 users of dictation technology in the NHS.
