N3 commercial aggregator status: something to shout about

"We've done the hard work so you don't have to". I suspect that this strap line has already been bagged by the advertising men for something, which is a real shame as it would be perfect for publicising our N3 commercial aggregator status. Ah well, back to the drawing board. Because it's certainly an achievement worthy of promotion, not just because we were only one of two providers to be granted aggregator status by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) earlier this year, and have a natural degree of pride in the achievement; no, it's more to do with the fact that it is such a significant award with huge potential for the health sector and the service and solution providers to it.

We have been providing connectivity to the N3 network for over a decade but only now are we able to assess and approve applications from third party organisations wanting to connect to N3. If you're an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) looking for a piece of NHS action, that is great news as we can now effectively turbo-charge your N3 journey - everything we have learnt, the millions we have invested, the standards we have reached, the processes we've developed, these can be all yours by proxy. You short-cut the usual health hoopla, the detailed and extensive due diligence required by a supplier to ensure it can match the security and information governance requirements mandated by the Department of Health.

Few companies have the skills, resources or appetite to pursue N3 connectivity directly, and the time involved can be hugely frustrating - we're seeing a new breed of dynamic ISVs with innovative propositions keen to get to market and the speed, security and agility inherent in our managed N3 connection aligns very nicely with their front-line care aims. Blood pressure applications, remote radiology diagnostics, genome testing, these are just some of the next generation solutions looking to transform diagnosis, care and outcomes, and if we can help bring these services on-line more quickly, assuredly and efficiently so that they can start doing good, then that it is surely something worth shouting about. Even if we do have to use a secondhand strapline…
